North Fork Chocolate Company to Expand to Tanger

The North Fork Chocolate Company, which grew its roots at the Calverton Incubator is set to expand to the Tanger Outlet Center in Riverhead.

In about two weeks, the North Fork Chocolate Company will open its doors in the Tanger II's food court, selling not only chocolate sweets, but also farmstand soups and artisanal breads that include locally grown vegetable Foccacia, Kernel corn bread, bread bowls, cinnamon rolls, and sticky buns.

Opening at the Calverton incubator in 2012, the North Fork Chocolate Company has already become known for its “small batch” artisanal chocolates and desserts that are made from products sold by local North Fork farmers, from unsalted fresh churned creamery butter to whole fresh milk, and eggs from vegetarian fed free range chickens.

In a short year, the company has moved from making a few batches of truffles, bon bons, and chocolate bars to crafting hundreds of chocolate goodies that are now featured at area vineyards and wineries like Pellegrini in Cutchogue and Raphael in Peconic, which offers truffles that are made with the winery's own Strawberry Sangria.

The company's desserts are also on the menu at Bistro 72 at Hotel Indigo in Riverhead.
