Peconic Bay Medical Opens New Manorville Campus

The new facility aims to meet the needs of a growing population.

It's official: Peconic Bay Medical Health System is slated to announce the official opening of The Gertrude and Louis Feil Campus for Ambulatory Care on Thursday in Manorville.

The new campus, which opened its first building on Sept. 3, is the only comprehensive healthcare center in Manorville community, and was developed as the result of a $5 million donation to PBMC from the Louis Feil Charitable Lead Annuity Trust.

In July of last year, Peconic Bay Medical Health System announced the creation of the new ambulatory health campus.

The new 25,000 square foot site is located on Route 111, just south of Exit 70 on the Long Island Expressway. Plans pitched by developer Parkridge Development included a new CVS pharmacy and several other retail stores located at the site.

"PBMC Health is extremely excited to bring a new ambulatory campus to the residents of Manorville and the surrounding communities,” said Andrew Mitchell, president and CEO of PBMC Health and Peconic Bay Medical Center, last year. "This is a model ambulatory program for the future just as the Kanas Center for Advanced Surgery at Peconic Bay Medical Center was the model for advanced surgical care for East End residents."

PBMC Health is the umbrella organization that encompasses Peconic Bay Medical Center, Peconic Bay Home Care, Peconic Bay Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, and a large number of physicians.

The new campus aims to meet the needs of an ever-growing population and the goal of developing medical services beyond hospital care, with an eye toward preventative health care.

The facility includes PBMC Health building, with a primary/family care office, an ob/gyn practice, pediatrics and an urgent care center.

Also planned was a second building, to include a center for digestive diseases, urology services and general surgery.

Plans for the remaining buildings could include a diabetes care center among other prevention services.

Mitchell said since PMBC is a tax exempt organization, assistance was needed from the Riverhead Industrial Development Association (IDA); the property will be leased.

"Manorville and the surrounding communities have had limited access to advanced medical services due to the lack of medical offices in the area," said Sherry Patterson, chairperson of Peconic Bay Medical Center. "PBMC Health is thrilled to help fill this unmet need and provide quality healthcare close to home."
