REVCO Launches Clean Energy Division

REVCO's new public electric vehicle charging station is now available on the South Fork.

A major East End company is taking great strides toward going green.

REVCO Lighting + Electrical Supply, Inc. is set to launch a new clean energy division, offering clean energy products -- and a South Fork public electric vehicle charging station.

A kick-off event will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the company's Southampton location.

REVCO's new clean energy division will offer an extensive assortment of electrical supplies and lighting, as well as the latest in energy efficient technology, including solar photovoltaic systems, wind energy solutions, LED lighting, and charging stations for electric vehicles.

The new line of products is suitable for both residential and commercial uses.

“We trust that what we have done at REVCO with solar installation, LED lighting and the electric vehicle charger will be a positive influence for others to follow on the South Fork," said Michael Velys Sr., REVCO's general manager.

Back in May, REVCO, with an eye toward going green, installed a 50kw solar panel system at the Southampton location, to educate customers and staff on the new, emerging green technology and to help cut electricity costs. Since then, REVCO has experienced a 45 percent reduction in its own utility costs.

On Friday, REVCO will also introduce one of the South Fork’s first electric vehicle charging stations, now open for public use at the company's Southampton location.

The launch event will feature drinks, hors d’oeuvres and music by Iris Ornig. Electric vehicle drivers will receive a free charge-up.

REVCO Lighting + Electrical Supply, Inc. has been operating to serve homeowners, designers, architects, builders and electricians of the East End for more than 30 years; the business has been operated by three generations of the Velys family.

Locations can be found in Southampton, East Hampton, Riverhead and Southold.
