Spa & Sauna Shop Re-Opens Jamesport Storefront

For Bud Handel, owner of East End Spas & Saunas, now is the time to open back up his storefront location. After operating on Main Road in Jamesport for nine years and working the past three years out of his barn in Riverhead, he said Tuesday he's felt an economic upswing recently.

The Riverhead resident opened up shop across from Colony Realty on May 2, stepping back into the place he previously worked from, replacing Arthur Edwards Pools.

"We live in a microcosmic economy out here driven by New York City bankers," said Handel. "And lately, banking has been good. Brokers, investors - they're making a lot of money. And the blue collar folks benefit from that."

Handel said the opposite was true when he closed his shop, but having the storefront location offers him opportunities such as visibility and a larger inventory he wouldn't otherwise have. With over 35 years in the pool and spa business, Handel will also offer wine cellars, outdoor showers and other amenities. He said once things slow down he plans on upgrading the Jamesport showroom.
