Town To Hold Special Planning Board Meeting to Address Costco Site

A special meeting of the Riverhead Town planning board will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Town Hall.

The purpose of the meeting, according to a release from the town, is to "review and possibly take action on the Shops at Riverhead site plan."

A Costco will be built at the Route 58 site, but the Riverhead town board has said in public session that the land clearing was not commenced by the business but by the developer in charge of the project.

For months, residents have been crying out against land clearing and a loss of trees at the site, as well as buffering and berm issues, with a protest in recent days.
