What Should Replace This Shuttered Deli? [Empty in Riverhead]

The old deli on Roanoke Avenue is up for sale. What would you like to see take its place?

New stores and restaurants are returning to downtown Riverhead, but there are more than a handful of empty or boarded-up storefronts in the community, a sign of the hard times Riverhead, and the country, has faced.

Riverhead Patch is going to spotlight some of these vacant businesses to start a discussion in the community about what can, could or should be done to make use of the abandoned places across town and revitalize Riverhead.

There's no shortage of delis around town, but sadly this deli has long since served its last sandwich.

The 3,100-square-foot building, located at 705 Roanoke Avenue has been boarded up since the deli closed and is currently for sale. It has been on the market with Jopel Realty for a few months, with a list price of $525,000.

A listing for the property said the building has an open floor plan and could be divided between several businesses.
