Suffolk County and Suffolk IDA Secure China Based Manufacturer to Move Operations to Suffolk County

Hauppauge, NY (February 4, 2014) - Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone announces that the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has approved a tax abatement incentive package to secure MTC Industries, a pharmaceutical supplier and manufacturer to move their manufacturing operations from China to Hauppauge, N.Y.  MTC Industries currently employs 11 at their processing facility located in Edgewood, N.Y.  The move of its manufacturing operations from China to Suffolk County will bring more than 40 new employment opportunities to the region over the next 3 years.
“This is a very exciting time to do business in Suffolk County,” stated Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “The region is continuing to grow as a hub for nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries and we look forward to welcoming MTC Industries to call Suffolk County home.”

“The Suffolk County IDA continues to work hard to secure successful, innovative companies to call Suffolk County home for their operations,” stated Suffolk County IDA Chief Executive Officer Anthony Manetta.

MTC Industries will purchase the 18,000-square-foot building located at 225 Oser Avenue in Hauppauge, N.Y. for $1.7million and will spend more than $700,000 in revitalizing and renovating the currently vacant building to become the international headquarters for the company.

Under the agreement with Suffolk County IDA, MTC Industries will receive $34,500 sales tax exemption, $181,440 in total property tax savings and $7,350 in mortgage recording tax exemptions and has agreed to increase their employee base to over 50 employees.

“When businesses move to the area, they provide employment opportunities for Long Islanders and revenue to the local economy,” said Joanne Minieri, Deputy County Executive and Commissioner of Suffolk County Economic Development and Planning."This is a great project and further proof that Suffolk County and the Suffolk IDA continue to put the best interest of Long Islanders first.
