Crash Victim Procession Takes Last Lap Around Riverhead Raceway

The hearses carrying Jason and Keri Trinca stopped at the Riverhead Raceway on the day of their funeral

The funeral procession for the Manorville mother and son who were killed in a two-car crash made a pit stop at the Riverhead Raceway on Monday, where the 7-year-old boy, Jason Trinca, used to race go-karts, according to a story in the Riverhead News-Review.

The hearse carrying Jason's remains drove three laps around the racetrack where Jason drove as an award-winning go-kart racer. His mother, Keri, laid in a hearse at the finish line. 

Keri and Jason were on Oct. 8 in Manorville. Keri, who was traveling with Jason, her son Christopher, 2, and daughter Marialena, 4, was broadsided by a van at the intersection of County Road 111 and Oceanview Boulevard. She was pronounced dead at the scene, while Jason was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Christopher was while his sister, Marialena, remains in serious condition under medical sedation. The childrens' father, Jason, thanked the community for their support.

"Thank you to all those who have organized the ," he said during a press conference on Friday. "Without the constant support of my family and friends I'm not sure I would be dealing with this right now."
