Empty In Riverhead: Following Bookstore Plans, Former Bank Waiting For Client

The former bank is up for sale for $575,000.

About a year ago, plans for a downtown bookstore and writing workshop were announced, however they never materialized at the space near the corner of Roanoke Avenue and East Main Street.

Now, the property at 6 E Main St. is back up for sale for $575,000, on the market since the deal fell through.

Listing agent Thea Coen of Bagshaw Real Estate said the past month in particular has seen a spike in interest in the property, as the Suffolk Theater opened up this spring and work finishes up on Summerwind - a 52-unit mixed-use property on Peconic Avenue.

The property previously housed accountants and attorneys, and opened in 1910 as the Suffolk County Trust Bank, Coen said.

It consists of 4,000 square feet, holds five offices and two bathrooms, and is zoned DC-1.

What would you like to see at 6 E. Main St., next to Star Confectionary and Suffolk County Community College Culinary School?
