Long Island Under Flash Flood Watch

Remnants of Tropical Storm Lee could impact Nassau and Suffolk counties, according to National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service announced a flash flood watch for Suffolk and Nassau Counties on Monday morning, to remain in effect until Tuesday morning.

The NWS stated that "remnants of [Tropical Depression] Lee [are] expected to cause flooding from the Gulf Coast states to New England."

The rain is expected to hit the region on Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning, and could result in rainfall accumulation of over one inch per hour.

The NWS also reported that a high risk of rip currents are possible at ocean beaches all along the south shore of Long Island until Monday evening.

Lee was downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression early on Monday morning. As of 10 a.m. on Monday, it was located between New Orleans and Jackson, MS and had dropped over 10 inches of rain in several locations in Mississippi and Louisiana.
