LIRR Service to Riverhead Restored Following Sandy

Bus service from Riverhead to Greenport, however, as Sandy washed out tracks in Mattituck.

The Long Island Rail Road restored train service between Ronkonkoma and Riverhead on Tuesday, though travelers looking to get from Riverhead to Greenport still have to hop a bus to reach the end of the line.

Service out to Riverhead was shut down following the path of Hurricane Sandy last week, as several locations on the tracks had been blocked and were just recently cleared.

An MTA spokesman told Newsday on Tuesday that a track washout in Mattituck has delayed service out to Greenport until further notice.

A schedule of the current LIRR service and bus pick-up east of Ronkonkoma is attached.
