• An article in Friday's New York Times mentioned Summerwind, a 52-unit workforce housing project which will also feature retail space on the ground floor, as one of several multi-family housing projects across Long Island breaking ground.

• Downtown restaurateur Dennis McDermott, whose restaurant was named , is working on several other projects besides the day-to-day running of itself. See what's in store.

• East End Arts, the downtown non-profit dedicated to the expression and education of arts of all kinds, celebrates its with a brunch from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Happy Birthday!

• While plans to open a microbrewery on West Main Street in Riverhead were moving "at a glacial pace" in October, , owner Steve Wirth said this week that it's going to take a bit longer at this point. Wirth forecasts an opening no sooner than the beginning of this upcoming summer as he looks forward to working with brewmaster and fellow small business owner Duffy Griffiths, owner of .
