May 19: GOP Nominations, CPR, and Spring Concert

Last month it looked like the GOP nominating ceremony would be a battle. Not as much now.

1. The  will host a scholarship fundraiser luncheon this morning at 11:30 at Vineyard Caterers on Route 25 in Aquebogue. The cost is $40 to attend.

2. The Riverhead Central School District's is meeting tonight at 7 for its final meeting. Next Tuesday, it will present a final number to the board of education that it recommends the district ask taxpayers to consider as a bond for capital improvements. 

3. Students at McGann-Mercy are holding their tonight from 7-9. The free concert will feature choirs, chamber choir, symphonic band, jazz band and a concert band.

4. The Riverhead Town Board is holding a work session this morning at 9:30. On the agenda is an ice skating rink, zoning, and the cardboard boat race.

5. The Riverhead Republican Committee will meet tonight at the Elks Club at 7. Incumbent candidates Sean Walter, the sitting supervisor, and councilmen Jim Wooten and George Gabrielsen are expected to earn the party nods. However , nothing can be a sure bet.
