May 6: Six Things to Know Today

Today's list included one too many things going on around town. See what there is to do.

1. Bring your kids to the Riverhead Free Library this evening to learn how to plant . Children ages 3-6 will be taught gardening basics at this free class - perhaps some valuable information for Mom and Dad looking to learn basics as well?

2. The Suffolk County Community College of Culinary Arts is hosting a tonight starting at 6:45 p.m. This annual fundraiser for the school will include a raw bar, carving station, veggies, and dessert. The cost is $75 and reservations are required.

3. At Riverhead High School, artwork from students throughout the district will be featured in a district-wide art show. will feature the works from 7-8:30 p.m.

4. At the , First Fridays continue tonight from 7-9  when Joyce Beckenstein will give a talk called   featuring a slide show of famous works and what critics have said about them.

5. is hosting a tonight to benefit victims of the Japan earthquake and tsunami. Thirteen bands will compete from school districts ranging from Mt. Sinai to Mattituck. Tickets are $8, and the show starts at 7.

6. is hosting  tonight at 8. The event will feature Terry McNeely, Maria Walsh, George Gallo, and Brad Zimmerman. Admission is $10 and the doors open at 7:30.
