National Weather Service Issues Flood Advisory

Poor drainage areas highlighted as rain could accumulate up to an inch an hour.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory at around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. It will remain in effect until 9:30 p.m.

The NWS stated that rain could fall up to an inch per hour until then, causing flooding in "urban areas ... highways ... streets and underpasses, as well as other drainage areas and low-lying areas."

According to the NWS, "most flooding deaths occur in automobiles." Drivers are urged to be cautious when commuting, avoiding areas and turning around when appropriate, where water covers the roadway.
