Pet of the Week: Buddy, a Golden Retriever Mix at Kent Animal Shelter

Buddy is an 8-year old Golden Retriever who was released to Kent by an owner who could no longer care for him.

Buddy is an 8-year old Golden Retriever mix who is looking for a home where he will be cared for, finally.

Buddy was turned over by his owner to Kent Animal Shelter because she claimed she could no longer care for him or the three other dogs with which he was surrendered. However, it looked as though Buddy had not been cared for in quite some time. He was infested with fleas and his coat was completely matted, causing him a good deal of pain.

Just last week, Buddy was scared, worn out and still in pain and would rarely leave his kennel at Kent. This week, with the mats shaved off, Buddy is a new man. He greets guests by coming to the front of his kennel. He wags his tail and shows his true personality.

Buddy is sad, however, His best friend Midnight, with whom he shares a kennel with and who came to the shelter with him from his former home, has already been adopted. With Midnight going to his forever home, Buddy will be left at Kent until he can find a home of his own.

The adoption fee for Buddy is $160. He is neutered, up to date on all shots and micro-chipped. For more information on Buddy and other Kent animals available for adoption, visit the Kent Animal Shelter website.
