Production crews came to Riverhead on Monday to shoot the Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis, a production in the works by the famed director/producers who have put out classic films such as Fargo, The Big Lebowski, and most recently a remake of True Grit.
The release is set for 2013, and film is said to focus on the New York folk music scene in the 1960s. The cast includes Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Carrie Mulligan, Garrett Hedlund, and Oscar Isaac as Llewyn Davis.
The production company of the town's water district property at the corner of Northville Turnpike and Route 105 for filming. A private barn was also used on Northville Turnpike.
Gary Pendzick, Riverhead's water district superintendent, said that the production crew is planning on designing the barn located on the property as a 1960s-style gas station. He added that part of the film has characters taking a road trip from New York to Chicago, and the open space around the area was desirable.
Monday's set was closed off during filming, but we figured we'd swing by after and take some pictures of the set. Before they return to their previous uses as a potato barn and water district building - because who wants to see pictures of those?
