Question of the Day: How Do You Feel About Gay Marriage?

The state Senate is expected to vote before the end of the week. Should it pass, the bill would most likely make New York the sixth state in the country to allow same-sex marriage..

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been pushing for the state Legislature to pass a gay marriage bill, and may get his wish this week.

The state Senate is reportedly one vote away from having enough votes to make New York the sixth state in the nation to allow gay marriage, behind Massachusetts,ย Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Iowa.

Local state reps are both against the proposition.

Assemblyman Dan Losquadro, R-Shoreham, said before he was elected he would oppose a gay marriage bill, and intends to do so, though the measure is expected to pass the Assembly.

"To me, it's a religious issue," said Losquadro, who is Catholic, on Tuesday. "It's a sacrament in my religion and something I feel strongly about ... those who preach tolerance for this issue don't seem to want to be tolerant for those who have different viewpoints."

We ask today: how do you feel about marriage? Do you support it? Oppose it? Why?
