Question of the Day: What Do You Think About Dropping the Puppy Sales Ban?

Last week, legislators abandoned a plan to ban the sales of puppies, an effort intended to end puppy mill abuse. Do you approve?

A proposed ban on the sale of puppies in Suffolk County after legal counsel said the legislation might infringe on state law and invite lawsuits against local government. The ban was intended to end the practice of breeding dogs in puppy mills.

As an alternative, Leg. Jon Cooper, D-Llyod Harbor, has suggested he will pursue a system to rate pet shops as a way to "steer business to pet stores that are reputable, and steer consumers away from those that aren't."

What do you think? Would you support or reject a rating system like the one Cooper has proposed? Are you happy that the puppy sales ban has been dropped?
