Road Work on Route 58 to Continue Through Mid-August

Two-lane extension coming on Route 58 from Ostrander Avenue through Route 25.

Commuters, beware: Suffolk County contractors will be working on Route 58 from Ostrander Avenue through Route 25 until mid-August.

The project is an extension of two-lane eastbound travel from just before Wal-Mart through the East Main Street/Doctors Path intersection, where the road becomes a state highway. Sidewalks are being extended on the southbound side of the road.

According to Bill Peterman, chief deputy commissioner of the County Department of Public Works, sidewalk work, curbing and paving will come as a total cost of roughly $1.4 million to the county. He said drainage work was done last fall and curbing should be done by mid-July.
