The Week Ahead: Social Media for Growers, Love Them Horses at the Links

Commercial farmers can learn how to better market themselves and trivia geeks can test their skills this week.

Now that we’re all slowly recovering from Super Bowl mania, let’s take a look at a few highlights of the coming week. Click on these links if you have information to share on Riverhead Patch: Events, Announcements.

1. Hospitality Industry Mondays at the Riverhead Project: If you work in the hospitality industry, every Monday means social and networking time in the bar and lounge of The Riverhead Project on Main Street. Half-price drinks are available from open to close every Monday for hotel, winery, bar, and restaurant owners/ managers/ staff from anywhere in the world. To participate, bring your most recent pay stub

2. Trivia Night at the All Star: Every Tuesday is Trivia Night at The All Star. Register your team by 6:30 p.m. in the Stadium Restaurant and Bar. Cost is $7 and the winning team gets a cash prize.

3: Social Media Workshop for Growers: This 8 a.m. Friday session at 423 Griffing Avenue is for commercial growers, retailers and industry members. Learn how to build your brand online and what tools you need to craft your social media campaign on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. Bring laptops and smartphones. Cost is $50 and you must pre-register to attend.

4. For the Love of Horses: North Shore Horse Rescue is having a fundraiser at the Calverton Links on Friday at 7 p.m. Bring your sweetheart to a buffet dinner, local wine/beer tasting, and Chinese auction. This event is to raise money for the care of the horses at North Shore Horse Rescue. Cost is $65.

5. Memorial Service for Demitri Hampton: A wake and funeral service were held on Saturday at the Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverside. Since Hampton was shot and killed, family and friends have been mourning his loss. Police said Monday it is possible he was just an innocent bystander, although the investigation is ongoing. Stay tuned for coverage of the memorial service for the 21-year-old.
