Top 3 Places Pets Wish They Could Go in Riverhead
This week's Four Legged and Furry does a little bit of wishful thinking.
One of the best things about Riverhead is the outdoor fun the town offers. Unfortunately, many of these outdoor locales don't allow pets. Here are three places your pet really wishes he or she could visit.
1) The Beaches
Reeves beach, Iron Pier beach, South Jamesport beach, Roanoke beach and many more summer surf locations are within Riverhead Town. Unfortunately, pets aren't allowed at any of them. Can't you imagine your pet running through the sand? Can you see your dog paddling through the current? It would be fun for you and your pet to enjoy a day at the beach together. Many residents go in the off-season with their four-legged friends, when rules seem to apply a little bit less, but it would be nice to enjoy the sand and surf year round.

2) Stotzky Park
Stotzky Park is one of the most enjoyable places in Riverhead. Drive by the park on a Saturday and you are likely to see softball games in progress, residents enjoying the walking track and barbecue on a grill. But wouldn't the walking track be perfect for your pet? What if you could let your pet run and run across the soccer field when it's not in use? With pet access, Stotzky could become an even better everyday destination.

3) Wildwood State Park
Wildwood State Park offers 600 acres of outdoor fun. From swimming in the Sound, to picnicking to hiking, there is really an endless number of activities one can enjoy. Once again, however, pets aren't allowed. So if you want to camp out at Wildwood, leave Fido at home.
