The National Weather Service says small hail, flash flooding and up to 60 mph winds are possible as thunderstorm approaches.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Suffolk County through 1:15 p.m. and a flash flood warning through 2:15 p.m.

"These storms have a history of producing rainfall rates of one to two inches per hour," according to the statement.

As of 12:30 p.m., the storm had reached Smithtown, and it was moving east towards Three Village and the surrounding areas, after touching down in Deer Park shortly after noon.

Winds of up to 60 miles per hour are possible, according to the NWS.

People in Suffolk County should monitor the weather situation closely.
