Get Out: Weekend Full of Arts and Entertainment in Riverhead

After another week of wintery weather, it's time to get out of the house.

It might be Super Bowl weekend, but you don't have to wait until Sunday night to find something to do. Here’s your field guide on what’s going on this weekend in and around Riverhead.

1.  

Where/When: Friday night starting at 6 p.m. at the East End Arts Council
Why go: Simply put: networking. If you want a place to go and get feedback on your latest composition, this is the place to find like-minded artists.
Pricing: It’s free, but donations are appreciated.

2.  

Where/When: Friday night at 7 p.m., Riverhead High School auditorium
Why go: It’s a perfect venue to see students and faculty have a great time performing. Plus, it’s for a great cause.
Pricing: $5 for students, $10 for adults. Proceeds go to scholarships.

3.  (Update: This event has been cancelled)

Where/When: Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Suffolk County Historical Society.
Why go: There's no better way to kick off Black History Month than with a discussion and slide show on what it means to be free.
Pricing: It’s free; reservations suggested.

4.  

Where/When: Saturday evening at 5 p.m. at Hampton Bays High School
Why go: This high spirited events features squads from Long Island raising money for Cohen Children’s Medical Center for cancer research. Plus, Riverhead cheerleaders are participating in the event.
Pricing: $5

5.  

Where/When: Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Martha Clara Vineyards
Why go: It’s a virtual cornucopia of activities. With wine, chocolate fondue, dance lessons, and tarot card readings there’s literally something for everyone.
Pricing: $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

6.  

Where/When: Sunday starting at 9 a.m., at the Moose Lodge on Madison Street.
Why go: Start Super Bowl Sunday with a hearty breakfast.
Pricing: $6 for adults/$4 for children 5-12.
