Town Councilman John Dunleavy said the town is planning to build a downtown playground near the comfort station during a Town Board public hearing on Tuesday.

The Town of Riverhead will recieve a "Eco-pole" street light, which runs off of a solar panel and small wind turbine, Town Councilman George Gabrielsen said. The town is also considering a cluster of solar panels to be set up on the town's capped landfill.

Every year, dozens of grape harvesters descend on local vineyards to help collect tons of grapes. Though the hours are long, and the job isn't easy, the harvesters say the job is worthwhile.

A man was injured in a shooting on Friday night in downtown Riverhead, police said. Police are still searching for the suspect in the shooting.
