Where To Call If Your Car Was Abandoned on the LIE

Information is available, according to Suffolk County police.

Motorists who had to abandon their vehicles on the Long Island Expressway during the snowstorm are advised to call 631-904-3050 for information.

In other related news, Suffolk County police have closed a portion of the Long Island Expressway on Sunday to remove snow that still continues to cover many parts of the roadway.

Police said the highway will be shut in both directions from Exit 57/Nichols Road to Exit 73/Riverhead on Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Throughout Saturday, stranded cars along the highway made snow removal difficult. While snow totals from Friday's blizzard have varied by town, much of the region saw a minimum of two feet of snow dumped on the area.

Brookhaven town highway workers on Saturday started removing abandoned cars on roadways using forklifts.
