Overnight Storm Leaves Over 350 Riverhead Residents Without Power

Power expected to be turned back on by 10 a.m. according to LIPA.

Following high winds and rain Wednesday night into Thursday morning, over 350 Riverhead residents remain without power Thursday, though the Long Island Power Authority predicts to have most of the homes up and running by noon.

The National Weather Service had issued a wind advisory for Thursday morning, predicting gusts could reach 55 miles per hour.

According to a LIPA outage map, power for 88 people on Church Lane is forecast to be restored by 10 a.m., power for 55 people in Aquebogue south of Peconic Bay Boulevard is expected to be turned back on by 10:30 a.m., and another 69 in Polish Town should have their power back by 10 a.m. as well.

Highway Superintendent Gio Woodson said his crew removed a handful of fallen trees before traffic hit Thursday morning: a couple on Sound Avenue, one on Church Lane, one on Howell Avenue, one on Peninsula Path, and a couple on Sound Shore Road in Northville - where a handful of people should get their power back by around 2 p.m.
