Harbes Family Farm Harvest Festival Takes Place September 7 and 8

Harbes celebrates the ten-year anniversary of planting their vineyard with a harvest festival that includes games, activities, and specialty foods during September 7 - 8 weekend.

During the September 8th and 9th weekend Harbes Family Farms will hold their Fall Harvest Festival. In addition to Harbes' usual attractions such as the Barnyard Adventure, singing hayrides, wine tastings, and music, the festival will feature scare crow relay races, pumpkin bowling, border collie demonstrations, corn cannons, pumpkin piñata, hot potato toss, gourd rolls, and  kettle corn eating contests.

The festival and its activities run from 10 AM until 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday at Harbes Family Farm at 715 Sound Avenue in Mattituck.

"During the last ten years the success of our vineyard has been very rewarding for the Harbes family," says Ed Harbes, general manager at Harbes Family Farms. "The harvest represents a time of joy and prosperity for farmers. Our festival to celebrate the harvest is the perfect way for the community to join together with us and share in the delight."

Harbes Wines have won numerous awards in competitions and magazine ratings. Harbes Vineyard is proud to be a part of the Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing group, a group dedicated to the sustainability of the region, which has introduced the first sustainability certification on the East Coast.

Also scheduled for the festival is the introduction of Greenport Harbor Brewing Company's Leaf Pile Ale. It is an autumn ale with fresh whole ginger, cinnamon, all spice, and nutmeg, which gives this ale its distinct character. "Leaf Pile Ale brings you the taste of a slice of pumpkin pie in a glass," says Greenport Harbor Brewing.
