Starbucks to Hire 10,000 Veterans

Jobs rang from behind the counter to behind the scenes.

A Veterans Day looms on Nov. 11, corporate coffee giant Starbucks is looking to hire 10,000 veterans or their spouses, in jobs ranging from baristas to workers behind the scenes.

“This demographic represents one of the most underutilized talent pools in our country,” former U.S. Defense Secretary, and Starbucks Director, Robert Gates, told the New York Post.

“They bring an understanding of other cultures and they’re accustomed to working with diverse and international partners," he added.

The company said it has dispatched recruiters to look for Starbucks-worthy vets and military spouses. it also plans to share the proceeds from five of its shop on or near military based with nonprofits that provide aid to veterans.
