Darkside Haunted House to Open Friday

The 15-year-old haunted house will open this season on Friday night.

Wading River's Darkside Haunted House is ready to send shivers down the spines of anyone willing to step inside its 15-year-old zombie infested barn.

Darkside announced its Friday night opening on its Facebook page, stating that it is ready to scare customers with a show that it is calling "bigger and better than ever before."

The Darkside Haunted House, located on Route 25A near Hulse Landing Road, hires actors to creep out customers as they walk through a maze of rooms, each designed with special effects and movie-quality sets.

This year, Darkside, which has been open since 1998, said it has redesigned the house and added 8 new rooms. The "outdoor village" has also been re-configured.

During the month of October, Darkside is open Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Friday from 7 p.m. to midnight; Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to midnight; and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Admission is $20, cash only.

Darkside says that its night-time shows are not recommended for children under the age of 12.

Darkside does, however, offer afternoon hours, where the lights are on inside the haunted house and no actors are present on Saturday and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cost: $10, cash only.

Afternoon hours are recommended for children over the age of 10.
