A 47-year old Amagansett man took his own life three days after being charged with driving while intoxicated, reports The East Hampton Star.

Christsopher A. Cosich, a personal trainer and bodybuilder, struck a tree just off Abram’s Landing Road last Friday at around noon. According to the Star, he appeared intoxicated and admitted drinking since the night before. Police confiscated a gun they found in the car.

Cosich complained of chest pain after the accident and was taken to Southampton Hospital, where he agreed to have his blood alcohol level checked. As of Sunday night, the East Hampton Town Police had released no blood alcohol reading.

According to Newsday, Cosich, who died at his home Monday, was the co-founder and vice president of Honor Flight Long Island, an organization' that has flown more than 1,000 veterans to war memorials around the country since 2006.

A funeral was held at Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton last week, and a memorial is being planned for June 1.

Chris was the FOUNDER and PRESIDENT of Honor Flight long Island and there is no mention of CHEST pain in the article you reference. If only you'd fact check the two articles you are citing. He was an amazing man who led this mark on the world. There is a void in the Hamptons community.

Incredible guy. So giving and kind. This is terribly sad. RIP Chris.

What a loss for his family and for all of us. Saw him interviewed and he was filled with enthusiasm and good will. Unfortunately, it seems he judged himself more harshly than most of us would have. So sad.

Horrible loss! Christopher did so much good for veterans - he's in a high place in heaven -- too bad the likes of trouble makers like Al Sharpton don't off themselves.
