Funeral Arrangements Set For Man Killed in Wading River Accident

Nicholas Pieloch was only 20 years old.

Loved ones will come together Wednesday to say farewell to the young Rocky Point man who died in a tragic accident in Wading River on Sunday.

Visitation will be held for Nicholas Pieloch, 20, at the Rocky Point Funeral Home, located at 603 Route 25A, Rocky Point, NY on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, located at 614 Route 25A, in Rocky Point, with Rev. P. Hoerning officiating.

According to Suffolk County police, the accident occurred on Route 25A, just west of Randall Road, at 3:18 a.m. Sunday morning. Police said Pieloch, 20, of Rocky Point, was walking in the roadway when a 2001 Ford Explorer, driven by Jesse Feinberg, 21, of Shoreham, struck him. Both the sport utility vehicle and the pedestrian were headed west.

After striking Pieloch, the Ford Explorer veered into the eastbound lane and went off the roadway, where it struck a tree and flipped, police said. Feinberg was not injured, police added.

No charges were filed, police said. The accident remains under investigation. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Riverhead police were asked to assist and close down the roadway, which was shut down for approximately four hours.

Friends and family mourned Nicholas Pieloch's tragic loss this week.
