Why Go: Apple picking season may be over, but don't let that stop you from bringing your family and friends to enjoy this lively orchard. Take a tour of the cider mill and learn how to make cider. You’ll also find out how honeybees and apple trees go hand in hand, and even try some honey for yourself.

Must Do: Adults should try the orchard's new hard cider and apple wine made from apples grown on the farm.

Insider Tip: Pets are not allowed on the orchard grounds.

Fine Print: The orchard is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Leiber Collection

East Hampton

Why Go: The gallery showcases several decades of luxury handbag designer Judith Leiber's creations and her husband Gerson Leiber's paintings and sculptures. This is definitively a day trip fashion and art enthusiasts will love.

Must Do: Visit the garden, which features a maze of various sculptures and intricate gardening styles.

Insider Tip: Keep your eyes peeled when driving to the location because the driveway entrance is easy to miss.

Fine Print: The Leiber Collection is free to all and open Saturdays, Sunday and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Children's Museum of the East End

376 Bridgehampton Sag Harbor Turnpike

Bridgehampton, NY

(631) 537-8250

Why Go? Filled with lots of interactive activities both indoors and outside, the permanent and rotating exhibits focus on agriculture, fishing and community and make a great learning experience for all.

Must Do: Let the kids get their hands a little dirty by participating in the free drop-in art studio where they can channel their inner Picasso. Pamela Brill, a visitor of the museum, said what she loves most is its unique Long Island feel. "What distinguishes this kid spot from other children's museums across the country are the exhibits that convey a distinctive Long Island tone."

Insider Tip: If you're hoping to have an intimate time of play with your little ones, visiting during the week is your best bet because it tends to get crowded on the weekends.

Fine Print: Open Mondays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on Tuesdays. Admission is $10 per person.
