Let your fellow Patch readers know.

It seems that everyone wants a puppy but if you consider adopting an adult dog you may find an amazing friend! I adopted a two year old dog who had been abused for her entire life. She has blossomed into a wonderful pet. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful dog.

In Dec of 2007 after losing my partner in 2006, my mother in April of 2007, my dear Snowie somehow got of of the house when I was not home. The ending was tragic: she was fatally killed when hit by a car. 6 days later I adopted Snowball, now almost 13 years old. She's the best. Her favorite activity is eating & she also enjoys sleeping. Likes to chase birds and squirrels. Does this funny thing where she sits an then nods her head up and down. To me she looks like a seal when she does it. She already knew where to "go" if she can't wait until her dog mom gets home. She always looks around for me, & likes to sleep in the same room I do. She's good with kids & likes to play chase the popcorn. She already knew how to hold still for grooming. ( Snowie, hated grooming) She came with a level three heart murmur, pulmonary hypertension, and has a lot of skin warts. (If anyone wants to help with her health care needs I could use the help.) She was adopted from Southampton, & she now goes to Bideawee (in where is that Westhampton or Hampton Bays). Highly recommend them for veterinary care. The vet I went to before was, in my opinion, just having me spend money for his own profit. This vet let me know I could use a solution of vinegar & water -I think it's 1/3 vinegar + 2/3 water to keep her Cocker Spaniel Ears free of all the problems they get. If you got to Bideawee tell them Eva with the Cocker Spaniel referred you. They'll thank me, and that will help with Snowballs bill.

We just adopted Chloe and Dov, 5 year old Golden Doodle siblings, from the Southampton Animal Shelter a little over a week ago after seeing them featured on Patch. They are settling in - we are getting to know each other better. They (especially she!) have a couple of bad habits that need to be re-trained, and we are working on them already. Our 4 year old loves them and they are very good with him - we are sure they will be lifelong buddies!

My second and 3rd Pet were adopted (a cat and a dog). Both absolutely wonderful pets! Each came from a differnt circumstance and loved eachother. They slept together , played together and took care of eachother. When my daughter was born she developed terrbile allergies and both had to be given up for adoption. The Cat went to a wonderful family and the dog went to Bideawee where she lived a happy life. Adopting a pet is a wonderful thing and I don't regret a single moment.
