After a Foot Chase, Northampton Man Arrested for Second Felony in Three Weeks

Southampton Police reported on Thursday that a Northampton man was recently arrested on felony charges for the second time in three weeks for allegedly punching a police officer in the face and fleeing on foot.

According to police, Mark Goode, 38, was seen on Wednesday walking on Old Quogue Road in Riverside in a suspicious manner, allegedly attempting to conceal something along the left side of his body. Police said that after talking to Goode, he became extremely agitated, produced a 24-ounce can of malt liquor, and started yelling obscenities at the officers. While being arrested, he reportedly resisted arrest and fled on foot.

Upon catching Goode, police reported that Goode punched an arresting officer in the face and causing him physical injury. Goode was arrested on charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and assault in the second degree to a police officer.

He was processed, arraigned at Southampton Justice Court, and sent to Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

On Feb. 12, Goode was arrested by state police and following an alleged fight at the Shell gas station on Lake Avenue. Following that incident, he was sent to Suffolk County Jail pending $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
