Alleged Mexican Drug Cartel Member Arrested for Assault
Order of protection requested, he remains in jail pending April 4 appearance at Justice Court
A man described by his girlfriend as a member of the Mexican drug cartel known as Golfo remains at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility with a court date of April 4 after being arrested and charged with assault in the third degree.
According to Riverhead police, cops responded in the early morning hours of March 20 to a report of a domestic violence at the 7 Eleven at 1050 Old Country Rd.
Arriving at 1:57 a.m., an officer observed a Hispanic female, described as Dora Elizondo of Calverton, being restrained by a Hispanic male, described as Jose Guadalupe-Lema, address unknown, as she was attempting to get out of a car.

Guadalupe-Lema was arrested and Elizondo was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of injuries to her head and face.
Interviewed at the hospital by a Spanish interpreter, Elizondo stated that Guadalupe-Lema, whom she described as her boyfriend, had punched her about the head and shoulders.

She also requested an order of protection, stating that the suspect is a member of Golfo and that she is in fear of him. She also stated that the suspect had been deported on two occasions.
Guadalupe-Lema is scheduled to appear for arraignment at Riverhead Justice court on April 4.
