BREAKING: Riverhead Fire Dept. Responds to Yaphank Brush Fire

Fire departments from Middle Island to as far east as Sag Harbor were called to assist in the fire this morning.

The Riverhead Fire Department, along with several other fire crews across the East End, responded to a brush fire in Yaphank this morning.

The Riverhead Fire Department sent one truck to combat the blaze at around 10:30 this morning. The Wading River Fire Department said they also received a call for assistance this morning, but could not confirm whether they were able to send a truck.

The Yaphank Fire Department said firefighters are still fighting the fire, but could not confirm which departments had responded or where the fire had started. Yaphank fire officials said they were swamped with calls today and so asked any nearby departments to help assist with the fire.
