Car Hits Utility Pole, Flips in Wading River, Closing Road

Two injured, police say.

Speed is considered to have been a factor in a Wading River car accident early Saturday morning that left a car flipped onto its roof after it struck a utility pole, closing the roadway for hours.

Riverhead Town police reported that on Saturday at approximately 2:15 a.m., they received a 911 call regarding a car that was being operated erratically in the Lewin Hills neighborhood of Wading River.

While responding to the incident, police observed a similar vehicle as the one described traveling northbound on Hulse Landing Road at a high rate of speed.
