Cop: Calverton Teen Stabbed With Box Cutter, Second Teen Charged

A Riverhead teen was found and arrested after the incident, police said.

A dispute between two local teens led to one being stabbed with a box cutter and the other being arrested, police said.

Authorities said they responded to a call about a stabbing on Saturday at 4:24 p.m. at a deli on Railroad Avenue in Riverhead.

Upon arrival, police found the male victim, 16, of Calverton, who said he'd been involved in a dispute with another young man, Jvon Creighton, 18, of Riverhead, who allegedly cut the teen with a box cutter.

Creighton fled the scene on foot, police said; he was later apprehended by officers canvassing the area.

The victim was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Creighton was arrested, charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, and taken to Riverhead police headquarters for processing, where he was held for morning arraignment.
