Cops: 2 Charged After Knifepoint Robbery On West Main

The incident is not the first in downtown Riverhead in recent months.

Two were arrested after allegedly holding up a man at knifepoint in Riverhead Sunday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, the incident occurred on Sunday at 10 p.m., when a 20-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint on West Main Street.

A description provided by the victim led to the arrest of David Moore, 40, of Riverhead, and Renee McKinney, 49, of Riverhead, Riverhead Detective Sgt. Joseph Loggia said.

Both were charged with robbery in the first degree, a felony, he said.

The knifepoint robbery wasn't the first downtown in recent months: In January, a couple leaving the Long Island Aquarium & Exhibition Center was robbed at knifepoint, police said.

According to Riverhead Police, the robbery took place near the Long Island Aquarium & Exhibition Center parking lot on Ostrander Avenue.

The couple reported being robbed at knifepoint by a man who approached them on a bicycle as they walked from the aquarium north to the parking lot.

After the incident, Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter worked with police to dispatch additional patrols to the downtown area.
