Cops: Armed, Masked Robbers Hold Up Wading River Valero

Police said cash was removed from the register.

Two masked men armed with handguns held up a Wading River gas station Monday night, police said. 

According to Riverhead Police Detective Sergeant Joseph Loggia, on Monday at 10:30 p.m., two masked unknown males entered the Valero gas station on Route 25A in Wading River armed with handguns. The station attendant was ordered to open up the register and cash was removed by one of the suspects, Loggia said.

 He added that the suspects were both wearing dark colored masks; no further description was given.

"It is unknown how they fled the scene other than on foot," Loggia said.

Recently, in Riverhead and nearby in recent months, a string of armed robberies were reported, including a hold-up at Barth's Drug Store on East Main Street; armed gunmen who robbed CVS on Route 58, a Halloween armed robbery of a gas station in Riverside, the armed hold up of a Halloween store in Riverhead, the robbery of a gas station in Mattituck, and a robbery at Tanger. Another armed robbery was also reported on Doctors Path.

Three were charged in the Halloween robbery; two were charged in the Barth's robbery.
