Cops: Burglar Torched His Way Into House, Residents Home

The suspect was held in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, police said.

A burglar who allegedly torched his way into a Riverhead house while residents were at home has been arrested Wednesday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town police, Tyree S. Dawson, 21, of Riverhead, used a hand-held, propane-type torch to get into a home on Fanning Street at 4:30 a.m., knowing there were people home.

Dawson was subsequently arrested at his home and charged with arson in the second degree, a felony.

He was processed and arraigned and held at the Suffolk County Correctional facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail, police said.
