Cops: Calverton Armed Robber Could Be Linked to Other County Hold-Ups

A man who held up a Calverton Hess at gunpoint recently could be wanted in a string of other Suffolk County armed robberies, police said.
Suffolk County Police said they are also working with Southold Town police to see if the suspect could be linked to this week's armed robbery at Game Stop in Mattituck.

Suffolk County Police Pattern Crime Unit detectives are investigating a series of armed robberies that occurred at businesses throughout Suffolk County since the end of October.

Police said that, during the past two weeks, a man entered eight establishments and pretended to purchase an item.When the employees opened their cash registers, the man displayed a black handgun and demanded cash. The suspect then fled the locations on foot, possibly to a vehicle waiting nearby.

 The robberies have occurred at seven gas stations located in Calverton, Eastport, Mastic, North Babylon, St. James, Dix Hills and Bohemia as well as at Jamba Juice in Stony Brook. No one was injured during any of the robberies, police said.

The suspect is described as a white man, between 25 and 35 years old, approximately 5'10"  to 6"2' inches tall with a thin to medium build. He usually wears a dark-colored or gray hooded sweatshirt, police said

Detectives are asking anyone with information on these robberies or if anyone recognizes the suspect in the attached photo to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
