Cops: Hess Station Near Tanger Robbed At Gunpoint

Police are asking for the public's help to find the suspects.

A Hess station on Route 58 near the Tanger Outlets was robbed at gunpoint Friday night, police said.

According to Riverhead police, a call was received Friday at 10:35 p.m. about a robbery in progress at the Hess Mart. The victim, a Hess employee, told police that two black men brandishing handguns forced him behind the counter and demanded the money from the register.

The two men removed cash and cigarettes at gunpoint and fled on foot, police said.

K-9 units from both New York State and Southold police assisted in the investigation, which is still ongoing. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Riverhead police detective division at 631-727-4500.
