Cops: Home Health Aide Busted; Stole Credit Card From Patient's Family

The woman was held on $20,000 bail, police said.

A woman working as a home health aide in Riverhead was cuffed after police said she swiped a credit card belonging to a family member of one of her patients and used it to rack up a string of purchases, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Linda A. Beck, of Manorville, was arrested after an investigation into "numerous" unauthorized credit card charges.

Police said the charges were made between Dec. 12 and Jan. 23 at a number of locations throughout Riverhead.

Beck, police said, had been working as a home health aide with Utopia Home Care Inc. of Riverhead; she allegedly stole a credit card from a family member of one of her patients and used it to make the unauthorized charges.

Beck was arrested on Monday and charged with 15 counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a felony, and 15 counts of identity theft in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

She was arraigned on the charges and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail, police said.
