Cops: Homeless Man Left Beaten on the Roadside

Police are asking for any information involving the possible assault.

Police are asking for the public's help to find the suspects they said could have left a homeless man, 52, beaten on the road.

According to Riverhead Town police, the man was found on Pulaski Street, near Marcy road, at 12:03 a.m. on Friday morning. He was found lying on the shoulder of the road with extensive injuries to his face and head, police said.

Riverhead police and the Riverhead Town Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene and found the man to be alert but not speaking, authorities said; he was transported by RTVAC to Stony Brook Hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening facial injuries, police said. Police added that the injuries appeared to be consistent with a physical assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Riverhead Town police detectives at 631-727-4500 ext. 321.
