Also, a woman's Riverside home is burglarized two nights in a row.

The following incidents were reported by the Town of Southampton Police Department for the week of Dec. 23.

Riverside

  • Someone broke into a woman’s Vail Avenue house on two separate occasions, first on Dec. 19 and then the following night. According to police, the victim called police after the second break-in, which occurred sometime sometime during the night while she was away. Police said on both occasions the suspect entered through an unlocked rear window and exited by unlocking the back door. The victim said after the first time, she locked the back door again, but when she returned she noticed the door was unlocked again. That’s when she discovered all the items missing from her house, which include a twin-size “Bed-in-a-Bag” comforter, a portable DVD player, a two-foot speaker, a George Foreman In-and-Out grill, a computer printer and assorted DVDs, all totaling about $515 in value. Police are investigating the incident.
  • A customer, irate with the price of a can of soda, walked out of the Shell Gas Station on Lake Avenue without paying for the item on Dec. 16. According to police an employee at the Shell called 911 at around 10:30 p.m. to report the theft. Police said the customer was angry over the $1.50 price marked for the 12-ounce can of Sprite and pocketed the soda, asking “What are you going to do about it” as he left. The employee answered by calling police.
