Cops: Man Charged With Marijuana Possession, Another With Fleeing Scene

Arrests took place in Flanders.

Southampton Town police arrested two Flanders men on Sunday night after one was allegedly found with marijuana -- and another tried to flee the scene.

Police said on Sunday at about 12:07 a.m., a suspicious car was observed with the interior dome light on on Meadowbrook Lane in Flanders.

Upon investigation, police said it was determined that the driver, Guillermo Ayala, 20, of Flanders, was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested at the scene and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and released on an appearance ticket.

During the investigation, police said, the passenger in the car, Elijah Steward, 20, of Flanders, exited the vehicle and refused repeated orders to get back in the vehicle; he then fled into a nearby residence.

A short time later, police said, Steward came out of the residence and was arrested for obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, a misdemeanor. He was transported to police headquarters for processing and released on an appearance ticket.
