Cops: Man Robs Occupied Riverhead Home At Knifepoint

Police are asking anyone with information on the suspect to contact them.

A man brandishing a knife entered a Riverhead home early Wednesday and stole a wallet while a resident was in the house, police said.

Riverhead Town police said they responded to a report of a burglary at a residence on Fishel Avenue at 12:30 a.m.

The homeowner said an unknown man entered the residence through an unlocked screen door.

Once inside, police said he flashed a knife then proceeded to take a wallet from a TV stand before fleeing on a bike toward Elton Street.

The suspect  is described as being a black man in his late 20s with a medium build, short, curly black hair, and facial hair, who was wearing a black T-shirt and gray sweat pants. Attempts to find him were unsuccessful, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to  call 631-727-4500 ext. 289.
