Cops: Police Nab 4 in DWI Task Force

The task force will be out over the holiday season to nab drunk drivers, police said.

Four people spent Thanksgiving Eve behind bars after they were charged with driving drunk in Riverhead, police said.

Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota's East End DWI Task Force was deployed Wednesday night, Riverhead Town police said.

The operation began at 4 a.m. and lasted until 8 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, police said; officers from Riverhead, Westhampton Beach, and Suffolk County Police participated.

The task force arrested four individuals and seized one vehicle, police said.

Rogelio Romero, 45, of Riverhead, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, for a blood alcohol content above .18 percent, police said.

David Dougherty, 35, of Kings Park, was charged with DWI, a felony.

Carlos Franco-Oliva, 23, of Flanders, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.

Dawn Phillips, 51, of Riverside, was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.

Additional enforcement details will continue across the East End during the holiday season, police said.
